For this prototype, we used an athletic, water resistant material. We have been working off of a vest pattern, trying to figure out the technique behind making a more polished garment.
To accomplish this, we started working with Chelsea in the costume shop to learn more about making a vest. Through working with her, we realized that we did not correctly take measurements for the vest, so we plan to remeasure as soon as possible. Also, we need to think more about the placement and design of the pockets. We want to be sure that the vest can accommodate all the necessary components without having the pockets be too big and cumbersome. We need to consider the type of front enclosure we will use on this vest too.
Currently, this the prototype of our vest. The pockets are loosely stitched so we can try different placements. Also, we saw that the vest is very long, and we will hem it to be shorter.
Moving forward, we need to reassess the measurements of the vest. We also need to think about how to design the pockets and create easy enclosures.
