The product I chose to analyze is a tower fan that my roommate and I love dearly. The machine is incredibly accessible and can be controlled from across the room by remote. The different settings allow the user to choose how high or low the fan speed is. It also provides a timer setting that enables the fan to be on for a set time which can be useful when sleeping. The [pretty] universal power button lets the user know how to turn the fan on. The machine doesn’t really give feedback besides the fan being on means that the machine is working.
My favorite part of the fan is the multiple settings. Sometimes it was extremely hot and ‘Power Cool’ was very effective. Other times, I use ‘White Noise’ to go to sleep at night, which is a much lower setting and just provides cooling air. The fan doesn’t rotate three hundred and sixty degrees, but it’s axis of rotation is larger than most tower fans. Furthermore, the remote feature makes using the entire machine much easier. I cannot pinpoint many areas of concern. The fan blades themselves are well covered and the gridding of plastic that is used for ventilation is small enough that small children could not harm themselves trying to touch the blades.
