Wellesley, I Love You. Goodbye (for now)

Today is officially my last day in Boston. I’m currently sitting at Boston Logan with five bags of luggage carrying almost everything I own. I’ve packed up, seen my brother graduate, and had a wonderful last dinner in the South End with Justin.

Here’s a picture of my brother and me at his graduation:

I’m so proud of you, brother!!

Now it’s time to head home. But I’ve some final thoughts I want to impart on you prospective students, whether you’re entering in the fall or you’re thinking about applying to Wellesley.

Wellesley College is an amazing place. It has a small community that provides a wonderful intimacy with professors and classmates yet a wonderfully broad range of opportunities to find your niche in organizations and activities. Wellesley has pushed me far beyond what I thought I was capable of and made me realize that nothing comes easy. I’m going to miss Wellesley for its wonderful professors, beautiful campus, and boundless opportunities.

Coming to Wellesley was one of the best decisions I have ever made. And I wouldn’t have redone my college application process any way. Wellesley will forever be inspiring, challenging, and home.

Sweet Potato Ravioli, Sailing Away, and Senior Goodbyes

Heading into the final stretch of school now! We just had our Tri-Society spring formal. The theme was Sail Away with Me, and it was such a great time. On the day of formal, I had to finish up my statistics project with Leigh, so we worked on it all day until the afternoon, when Justin came. I had to really rush to get ready to make it for the group picture and all the ZA festivities before formal. It was so great to see all my friends, eat delicious food like sweet potato ravioli and garlic bread, and just have a great time. Here are some pictures from formal:

Me, Emma, Erin, and Sarah at formal!

Here I am with Justin!

Then, I headed into the last week of school. I had my first final this week for math and took the final exam, turned in our paper, and presented. I really liked my group’s research topic—how marijuana affects one’s cognitive abilities. I really like these hands-on applications and real-world applications. I think that makes learning and classes much more accessible and interactive. I spent most of the weekend doing research for my final paper for history and studying Chinese. On Sunday, we had our senior dinner for ZA, where we said goodbye to all the lovely seniors. I’m going to miss them SO much. All these seniors are so inspirational and amazing people. It’s incredible that I will be there in just two years.

But for now, I must focus on my last two exams and papers. I’ll keep you updated!

Homemade Ravioli, Wonderful Friends, and Endless Ice Cream

Ice cream= my entire weekend. Got my wisdom teeth out yesterday, and so far, my diet has consisted of ice cream and wonderful company from friends. Laura GRACIOUSLY woke up at 7am, drove me all the way to Dedham (about 30 min from Wellesley), and has been taking care of me since. Justin took over in the evening. But luckily, my teeth haven’t been all that bad. I actually was able to eat solid food yesterday—delicious homemade ravioli! Justin and I walked all over Wellesley, just enjoying the beautiful weather while eating…ice cream!

But anyway, I’ve been taking it easy. I didn’t end up making it Block Party yesterday, which is this HUGE party that Wellesley puts on. The location got moved to the Academic quad ever since Massachusetts passed capacity laws, which makes it difficult to host parties in our houses, but that’s alright!

Right now, I’m with Justin in Boston, again, enjoying the beautiful weather. Going shopping later with Daniella, and tonight—who knows!

Lastly—I can NOT believe how quickly this entire year has passed. I only have two more weeks of school. UNBELIEVABLE! But I’m not quite yet done! So much to still get done! Talk to you all soon!

Oh, and here’s just a picture that I love taken on Marathon Monday, enjoy!

Leigh, Tessa, me and Meaghan on Marathon Monday!!

Raspberry Pie, Lazy Afternoon Picnics, and The Scream Tunnel

Good news: I’m done with my CS midterm, and yesterday was Marathon Monday.

Bad News: I’m sick. And I need to get my wisdom teeth pulled on Friday.

BUT I’M DOWN WITH MY CS MIDTERM, SO THAT’S ALL THAT MATTERS!!!! Relief, relief, relief!!!!!!

On Saturday, I had a wonderful picnic with Justin right next to Lake Waban. We shared delicious bites of pies, cheese with crackers, and juice. It was so great.

Sunday, ZA also had an alum brunch in Cambridge, where we got together with wonderful alums from 2, 7 years ago, and even over 30 years ago! It was so great to see how ZA has changed and yet still stayed the same from so many years ago. It was so great!

Marathon Monday was amazing. Tons of fun, burgers, shouting, and wonderful fun. I love that the Boston Marathon runs right behind Wellesley. It’s great, and it’s such a great experience that makes Wellesley so unique. We have what we call the Scream Tunnel, where we just scream and cheer on the runners as they go by. So much fun.

Me with my sign for Marathon Monday!

Sadly, I also had to get my history paper done, which I’ve strangely been struggling with a lot. I think my professors have really been pushing me to just do the best that I can, so I really just need to focus.

This weekend, lucky for me, I can just take it easy. I need to get my wisdom teeth pulled, but hopefully it won’t be too bad…I’m supposed to be presenting at the New England University Computer Science Symposium, but I don’t think I’ll be able to present after getting my teeth pulled. But next week’s Ruhlman, so hopefully, I’ll be all better by then. Talk to you all soon!
