During our class discussion regarding the Extra Hands sketch model, a number of important suggestions were made. In our own production, we had discovered many features that need work, and the commentary from our peers is assisting us in our approach.
Feedback
- Suggested increase in vertical height
- Compensates for lack of space and possible inability to hold water bottle
- Need to observe movement of bag in controlled environment
- We did not think about the fact that different weights within the bag could affect how the bag behaves while in use. We plan to conduct a number of experiments testing a variety of items and how they change the movement.
- Addition of netted pockets, or a similarly behaving material
- This could provide a perfect space for a water bottle, and most importantly, would not be as clunky as the side pockets we currently have on our sketch model.
- Collapsibility.
- We need to incorporate this into our design.
- Attachable cell phone!
- We love this idea because it provides extra security, and it may be important for those who struggle with a weak grip.
- Adjustable straps.
I really like the look of your product. Even though it is just cardboard right now, I can tell it’s going to be a pretty bag. The adjustable strap is a great idea as well as many of the others that people mentioned during the presentation. I particularly like the mesh thing on the side.
I agree that the design of the bag looks great. Also, the flat and structured bottom gives it the ability to hold more delicate items. When I saw the design, I initially thought that it seemed to be pretty wide, and I understand that some of the bulkiness comes from the cardboard, but you might want to consider this measurement and if it can be cut down.
