9/3 9:20pm New phishing scam email

9:20pmĀ We recently discovered a phishing scam that was sent to Wellesley College email addresses.

The scam is from “Catherine Robert <trungvy0702@gmail.com>”, with a blank subject, and the content of the email said they “had contacted Wellesley, graduated from there, and they are looking for an Administrative/Personal Assistant.”

This is a money scam. They will want to talk to you via text messages, and send you images of check to deposit that will initially clear at your bank. They will then ask you to send the excess funds to someone else. Seven to ten days later your bank will tell you the initial check was fake and they will remove the money from your account. There will be no way to get the money you sent back, so you will be out the money you sent to the scammer.

If you receive this email, please report the scam as phishing. View the email, click the triangle button or three-dot button in the top right that is next to the reply button, then click ‘Report Phishing’ so that Google can add it to their phishing filters.
