Cybersecurity Notice to Kaspersky Security Users

To: All Employees
From: Ravi Ravishanker, CIO and Associate Provost

We are writing to alert you to a directive from the Biden administration that prohibits the sale and use of an antivirus software called Kaspersky. The College does not distribute this software or support it, but we are informing you in case you have purchased this for personal use.

The specific timeline outlined by the administration for various phases can be found here – Kaspersky Lab, Inc. Prohibition (from the Bureau of Industry and Security). Though they have provided the users until September 29th to find alternatives (this is the date they will prevent any further updates to the software), we strongly advise you to look for alternatives and replace the software at your earliest convenience. For additional information click here – Department of State news on Kapersky

As you know, the College installed ESET on all the College provided computers. We recommend that you look into it as a possible replacement. As employees of the college, you would receive a discount to use for home/personal computers.
