Wireless network infrastructure requires downtime for us to apply an important security patch as well as install new SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificates. For enhanced security the agencies that issue SSL certificates are issuing them with a validity of 1 year and the currently installed certificates expire on July 16th and therefore they need to be replaced.
We’ve scheduled this update for Monday, July 14th at 7 AM, and it may take up to 90 minutes. During this period, the WiFi on campus will be unavailable.
After the update all devices connecting to the Wellesley Secure wireless network may need to accept a new security certificate. If your device doesn’t automatically reconnect, you might need to “forget” the Wellesley Secure network and rejoin. If you end up forgetting and adding Wellesley Secure back, you may be prompted to re-authenticate with your domain password.
We appreciate your understanding.
Please contact the LTS Helpdesk at helpdesk@wellesley.edu or call 781-283-3333 if you have trouble connecting to the WiFi after the update.
