License Manager Monthly Server Updates – Every 4th Tuesday of the Month

As part of our data security and risk mitigation efforts we are required to update our servers on a regular basis to ensure critical patches are being applied. We strongly advise that you save your work prior to the update and quit the applications before the updates begin. Additionally, avoid scheduling any long-running software tasks that may be interrupted by the maintenance window.

The window is every 4th Tuesday of the month from 4 AM – 5 AM.

Next update is on July 23rd.

  • Geneious
  • Geneious Prime
  • LabView
  • JMP
  • KeyShadow
  • Mathematica
  • Matlab
  • Max 8
  • Maya
  • Rhino
  • Stata
  • Sibelius
  • SPSS

Cybersecurity Notice to Kaspersky Security Users

To: All Employees
From: Ravi Ravishanker, CIO and Associate Provost

We are writing to alert you to a directive from the Biden administration that prohibits the sale and use of an antivirus software called Kaspersky. The College does not distribute this software or support it, but we are informing you in case you have purchased this for personal use.

The specific timeline outlined by the administration for various phases can be found here – Kaspersky Lab, Inc. Prohibition (from the Bureau of Industry and Security). Though they have provided the users until September 29th to find alternatives (this is the date they will prevent any further updates to the software), we strongly advise you to look for alternatives and replace the software at your earliest convenience. As you know, the College installed ESET on all the College provided computers. We recommend that you look into it as a possible replacement. As employees of the college, you would receive a discount to use for home/personal computers.

SuperSearch is currently not responding

SuperSearch is currently giving an error message when performing a search.  The vendor has successfully recreated the issue and are actively researching to find root cause.

Sakai downtime July 17th 11am-2pm

We will be upgrading Sakai to version 23 on Wednesday, July 17, 2024. Sakai will be unavailable from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm.

Among the new features in this version are:

  • All major navigation now happens in one menu on the left. Look for your courses and usual sites there as well as any tools for each site.
  • Schedule a date for your course to publish. No more calendar reminders.
  • Highlight particular announcements in Sakai to draw attention to them.

The vendor reports the issue has been resolved and both services are responding as usual.

LTS Support on Wednesday, June 19th (Juneteenth) and Thursday, July 4th Holidays 

LTS staff will be unavailable on Wednesday, June 19th and Thursday, July 4th for the Juneteenth and Independence Day holidays observed by the College.

  • Library services desks in Art, Music, and Mods will not be staffed. Faculty and staff will have swipe access from 7am to 10pm. 
  • Special Collections and Archives will be closed.
  • LTS Help Desk and Registrar’s Office will also be closed and we will not be able to respond to the emails sent to the ticketing systems until the following day.
  • In case of any major issues such as a network or service outage, please call the Campus Police to report. They will call the appropriate LTS staff to help diagnose and correct the issue.
